SATURN RETROGRADE: Spiritual sabatical

Saturn, Lord of Karma and Father of Time stations retrograde in Pisces on June 29th at 19° and travels back to 12°. Do you have any placements or aspects here? Saturn is roughly a 29-year cycle and Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac, indicating Karmic timelines as well as their corresponding completions will be revealed. Pisces is a mutable water sign that lacks time and form. Saturn in this placement serves to supply density; to establish the systematic structures to support our dreams. As this master teacher moves back to 12° in the sign of Divine inspiration, the Sabian symbol for this degree indicates a letting go of self-imposed restrictions and battles that no longer serve us a purpose, or that will no longer support us moving forward (even spiritual modalities that we have previously placed our faith in). What are the skills we are to master to progress in responsible actions of spiritual growth? Are we ready to evolve beyond outdated goals and aspirations? Saturn is about staying the course and we can consider this retrograde a moment of reprieve. A time to review our tests and trials. To examine and cross-examine our steadfastness as our own authority.

Saturn entered Pisces in March 2023, joining Neptune in its ruling sign. Coincidentally, the same month that Pluto moved into Aquarius. Saturn is the modern ruler of Capricorn, yet it was also the ancient ruler of Aquarius before the discovery of Uranus. Saturn is actually quite comfortable supporting us when we step outside of the box, see into the bigger picture of possibilities, and seek the unorthodox path to perfection. (which Pisces reminds us is illusory at best.) Saturn in this retrograde phase is asking us to consider how prepared we are to enter a new age in history.

Stoic, stern Saturn is softened in the inspiring realm of Pisces. Compassion, especially for self, is an echoing theme of this transit. Are there ways we can be more compassionate with others, or do we need to have stronger boundaries? How can we commit to supporting ourselves from a place of compassion without judgment? Security for the future is found by establishing a firm foundation from within first and foremost.
